IMMEDIATE PAYMENT ANNUITY
Annuity contract purchased with a single lump-sum payment and in return, immediately begins to generate income. An immediate payment annuity is especially appropriate for retirees who are worried about outliving their savings. However, one drawback of this annuity is that the immediate payment is irreversible upon purchasing it. This may be a problem if the annuity holder needs a huge amount for emergency.
