INSIDER TRADING SANCTIONS ACT OF 1984
Legislation that permits the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) to seek a civil penalty up to three times the amount of profit or loss to those who use insider information in trades and give information not available to the general public. Enacted in 1984, it also provides for criminal fines to be charged.
