Currency abbreviation or symbol of Iceland Krona, the official currency of Iceland. Krona is split into 100 aurar and often shown with the symbol kr. First introduced in 1922 as a coin, the currency has earned the nickname "Icelandic Crown" in financial markets because the term krona is somewhat similar to the Latin word corona, which means crown.
