MARGINAL SOCIAL COST - MSC
The total cost of an activity, viewed by the society as a whole, for producing another unit or taking further action in an economy. It is not just the direct cost given by the producer, but also the costs to the environment and other shareholders. To get the marginal social cost, add the marginal private cost (MSC) and the marginal external cost (MEC), which should be positive.
