MARKET SEGMENTATION THEORY
An interest rate related theory that states there is no necessary correlation between short-term and long-term interest rates. Every segment with different maturity has its own take of interest rates that depends on the security’s supply and demand, and the risk related to it. Also called Segmented Markets Theory.
