MARKETING FRAUD
The practice of deceiving or misleading the public in promoting a product or service in order to get more interest or acceptance on that product or service. Marketing fraud involves exaggerating claims, false advertising, hiding negative aspects or side effects, and selling imitations as the real article. Consumers can protect themselves from marketing fraud by adhering to the old saying, "If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is."
