OFF-BALANCE-SHEET FINANCING
A form of financing where the large capital expenses are kept off of a company's balance sheet via various classification ways. Companies often use off-balance-sheet financing to have leverage ratios and their debt to equity low especially if the inclusion of a large spending would break negative debt covenants.
