QUALIFIED RESERVIST
A qualified reservist is a part of a military reserve who does not actively serve but may still be called to duty and is entitled to make an early withdrawal from his/her individual retirement account (IRA) without incurring the usual early distribution penalty. IRS often imposes a 20% penalty to a taxpayer who is younger than 59.5 years old when he withdraws a taxable amount from a retirement account.
