SROP

Senior Registered Options Principal (SROP) is a general partner or an officer of an options trading firm. The purpose of a SROP is for the supervision of the client accounts’ options exposure and trading activity. SROPs are required to have accomplished the Series 4 exam. However, in June 2008, FINRA got rid of the requirement of SROPs in firms along with the requirement for the possession of Compliance Registered Options Principal (CROP). CROP oversees the regulatory compliance of the firm’s options and is sometimes a position filled by the SROP.
