ASSIMILATION
The consumption of stock by the public after a new issue. During the time wherein a company proposes a stock for sale to the public for the first time, either through an add-on offering or initial public offering, the shares will first be distributed among underwriters. It is then the job of underwriters to assimilate all of the shares sold to the investors.
