CONVERSION OPTION
Clause associated with some adjustable-rate mortgages allowing the borrower to exchange the variable interest rate to a fixed rate over a particular time period or at certain future dates. It is not free; an adjustable-rate mortgage with this option will normally have a greater margin. Therefore, it has a higher fully indexed interest rate or higher costs than this mortgage with a conversion option.
