INVERTED YIELD CURVE
An interest rate environment in which short-term yield or bonds are higher than long-term yields same credit quality. Also known as a negative yield curve, this is the rarest of the three main curve types and considered an indicator of economic recession. Initial inversion appears when only some of the short-term Treasuries have higher yields (5-year or 10-year) than 30-year Treasuries.
