LIMIT DOWN
Maximum price decline that is allowed on a futures contract in one trading day. It also pertains to the maximum drop tolerated in a single stocks on some exchanges before trading restraints kick in. In general, the limit is set as a percentage of the market price of futures or stocks, and sometimes as a dollar amount. It aims to keep away odd market volatility and avoid panic-driven selling.
