MANIPULATION
Illegal; artful, expert, or skilled act to affect or control the price of a security through trading. It is easier to manipulate the share price of smaller companies (like penny stocks) because these are not much closely watched by analysts, unlike medium and large-sized firms. One way of deflating the share price is by placing hundreds of small orders at a lower price than the one that has been trading.
Also called price manipulation.
